just installed walbro 255 in '98 car. red wire to factory grey. black to factory black. when you turn on the ignition, should the pump run until it builds up pressure?? or does it just run for a couple of seconds and turn off regardless of pressure on the rail? i have a fuel line run off the rail into a bucket and it pumps for a sec, then turns off when i turn on the key.

i have also heard that 255's are louder than stock. mine seems to be really quiet.... problem here?

 

I think the fuel pump should stay running atleast if I can remember when I turn my car on, its a noticable noise that its running but I don't ever remember it turning off until I shut the car off? I hope this helps.....

 

if this is true, mine isn't working correctly. what would make one turn on and then turn off after a few seconds....?

 

Could just be me, but shouldn't the fuel pump be running at all times? There needs to be some way the fuel gets to the fuel rails.....I duno just my .02 I could totally be wrong but I think as soon as you turn the key the pump primes then starts pumping and doesn't turn off till you turn the car off. Maybe someone else who knows something will chime in.

 

When you do key on engine off the pump will run for about 2 seconds then shut off, when the car is running, it will be on all the time.
