what my thinking is (and I am by no means a fuel system expert) is that rails are primarily used in applications that are starved of fuel using stock rails, so along with a bigger fuel pump and injectors, you'd use rails in order to supply the car with the adequate amount of fuel.
So in essence, yes, the rails would gain HP, but only as part of an upgraded fuel system with a tune...not by themselves only...
Thats my thinking...anyone feel free to chime in and make any corrections..
I have rails with an upgraded racetronix pump AND injectors, part of a whole system for my head cam 90/90 car and im sure I was able to scrounge some power after the tune with the added fuel amount and pressure!

Definitely heads/cam before worrying about fuel rails.

I'm still using the stock fuel rails (with upgraded Walbro intank pump) with the numbers in my sig with no problems...

Upgrading fuel system parts--injectors, rails, lines, pump, etc.-- does not gain any power whatsoever unless you are starved for fuel. Going with bigger rails is not necessary until you are upwards of 600-700rwhp from what I understand. I went with some because of the fuel system I plan on running in the future and the cool bling factor of polished aftermarket rails, but they aren't beneficial to me at all right now.

If you're staying N/A or wet nitrousk it...you won't ever NEED to upgrade your rails. If you get into huge dry shots or FI though, you may need to eventually.

do you need a tune to upgrade just the fuel rails? say you were already tuned for bigger injectors, fuel pump, and such... would you need to retune after adding new rails?

No, I should have clarified this in my above post. The ONLY thing affecting how the engine will run is the injector size, of course unless you are not supplying enough fuel to your injectors. But like I said, you won't do that N/A or with a wet kit. You'll only have the chance to starve your injectors on 600-700rwhp+ FI or dry kit.

Thus, no, you will not need a tune if you change your fuel rails. However, if you change your entire fuel setup from a returnless style to a return style, you MAY need a re-tune depending on how close you have your fuel pressure set in both instances and what kind of a pressure drop you were getting with the factory system vs. your aftermarket system.
