Default Sumped tank build part 2 (Pictures)

See previous thread for project description:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/fueling-injection/666122-sumped-tank-build-part-1-a.html

Welding aluminum isn't bad, it's all about prep. Initial bending and welding completed.

Curtis valve, to be installed at low point in tank. Weld-in bung also.

Syncrowave 200 and plasma cutter.

Welding isn't my strongest area... but I'm new at it. I'm sure it'll do the job though, shouldn't leak a drop.

I decided to install a front-to-back baffle. Plasma cutter in action...

Initial placement.

Summit brand fuel level sender, with modifications. Still trying to make it work. Not sure why it isn't, the resistance values are the same as the stock unit. I suspect I can correct the issue when I get a service manual. Any suggestions welcome...

when i bought a tank sender...i realized the 99+ ls1 cars run the 30-240 ohm, but.....the sender gets switched so full is empty resistance and empty is full resistance.

I bought the Sunpro fuel level sender from Summit. It's 240-33 Ohm. I had to flip the unit, isolate it from the "mount" that comes with it (you can see in the pictures), and build another bulkhead fitting to supply the return wire.

Here's the unit:

How did you hook your sending unit up to the car? Also, does the fuel gauge read when the switch is on, or does the car have to be running?

Weird... I wondered if the PCM had to be hooked up in order for the gauge to read, so I tried that. No luck. Next I tried installing the original pump and sender, and it still didn't read anything. Perhaps the EVAP has to be hooked up, or the pump itself.

Anyone have ideas? How do you folks with the Nasty tank hook the sender up?
