Default Confused about stock fuel system

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how our stock fuel system works on my wife's '02 SS. I'm a mustang guy who's doing his first f-body mods.

Are all the LS1 fuel systems returnless?

From what I understand on these returnless systems there is a regulator in the tank. Does the regulator adjust for manifold vacuum/boost?

Thanks,

Steve

Thanks for the reply. I'm getting closer now.

I noticed some kits come with an FMU. How do they work without a return line?

The idea of tuning for boost without a constant fuel pressure across the injectors is.. uh.. wow.

There is a regulator in the tank, it does not adjust for vacuum/boost.

The computer injector flowrate tables compensate for vacuum, but not boost. The map sensor is only good to 1 bar (atmospheric pressure). You can remove the stock one and install an adjustable vacuum/boost referenced one outside at the engine or were the electrical connections are for pump (just ahead of the wheel well)

I guess I was not clear. We do have a return line its just ahead the filter (which is just ahead of the rear tire. A fmu is just a fuel pressure regulator but allows more than a 1:1 increase in fuel pressure with boost.

Thanks for the info. It's not your fault, I didn't understand how a returnless system could have a return line <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I've figured it all out now though. Thanks!
