Default Fuel filter, STUPID question...

Hey guys, sorry for such a newbie question, my car now has 46000 mi. on it, and I never changed the fuel filter. Do I really need to change it? Is there a writeup of scheduled maint? I know to change my oil every 3000 and transmission fluid every 30000, and my rearend oil every 30000, but not sure what else needs to be done. Will not changing my fuel filter hurt performance at all? Thanks in advance.

Yes not changing it will hurt your gas mileage and lack of power. I change mine every 12,000 miles also depending how often I drive it. I would reccomend changing it every year. look in your owners manuel on the car if you have one if not just search for maintenance. After you take out the fuel filter a good way of knowing if it's bad is to blow through it. If you don't feel anything or slightly feel air out of the other side I would change it.

The filter is in front of the axle on the driver side. No special tools needed.

Another stupid question. How do you remove
the flexible fuel line end from the filter
if you broke the black plastic ring? Help
please.

If you are referring to the little plastic squeeze fitting that snaps into the plastic fuel line, try sticking a smaller regular head screwdriver in to act as a pry while squeezing the other side and pulling.

Be prepared to take a fuel shower. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Can a filthy fuel filter cause a P0300 trouble code? This just popped up. I think it's because I am running stock tuning, because I sent my predator in for a bios update, but not SURE. Any opinions? I will have my predator back soon, so I can test my theory (After I put my custom tune back in). Thanks.

UPDATE!!! I changed the fuel filter, fixed my problem and WOOHOOO!!!! My car is running so much better now. Can't wait to get my predator back (It's in for a bios update) but as soon as I get it back, my car'll be feeling really good.
