I'm doing a KB BAP install and want to know what color the fuel pump wire is in the back of the car. it's a 98 Camaro so it may be different from 99+.... Any help would be appreciated...

I believe the wire is grey or purple depending on year...Its in the main block on the drivers side rear seat well in front of the axle..Probe the wires and you will find it.

My 2000 has grey/black for fuel pump, purple wire is sending unit - again, may be different on your year.

How do you check the difference between the two (sending unit and fuel pump)...Mine is a 98 if that makes a difference...

Easiest way is to probe the wires back there with a test light. When you turn the key on to run but not start it the test light should light up for a few seconds and then go off. Thats priming the system. Then when its actually running it will be on solid.

Problem with that is that the gauges have power at that point also, including the fuel gage - allthough, since the fuel gage is like a rheostat, and has some range of ohms (usually 0-90) that it outputs based on fuel level, it should be easy to weed that out.

Sending unit on mine is Purple & Black with white stripe, while FP is Gray wire & Black wire. Some years used Red wire & Black wire for FP. By process of elimination you should be able to find the correct wires by probing if you go thru the colors I mentioned.

I could be wrong - I'm a ME not EE

I've done searches many times and even asked a couple of times...Needless to say this is the first time that I've received an answer...Most responses before were to get a racetronix hot wire or whatever... Thank you to everyone that has put forth effort to help out a fellow techer...
