Default Injector Question

I'm getting a TR 224/224-112 cam installed & I already have LT's & lid etc. I was talking to a guy who works at a shop & he said something about getting larger injectors. I didn't think larger injectors were needed. Are they?

You won't need new injectors with just a cam and bolt-ons. When you approach 450rwhp then you need to start thinking about upgrading.

I think it depends on the year of your car... once it's all installed get it attapped or dynoed w/wideband.

If atap indicated >80% injector utilization you'll wanna upgrade, or if the car is running really lean on the dyno and they can't get it to run any richer.

I believe it's 98, 01 and 02 have 28lb/hr injectors whereas 00 and 99 have 26.5 lb/hr injectors, so the 99-00 are at a somewhat disadvantage on how much power before new injectors are needed.

Not a chance, even with a stock engine a 26 lb injector could only
handle a peak of 416 HP at flywheel and even then that would be at
a 100% duty cycle so at 80% it is only 333 HP and most cars even with
a few mods would exceed that.

Ability of Your Injectors IF 26 lb/min

FWHP 416 Duty Cycle 100% 333 @ Duty Cycle of 80%
RWHP 354 283
Using a BSFC of .50

Add some hot weather, some mods and with stock injectors
would be knock city.

I agree, but SunsetWS6 has a 2001 with 28# injectors not 26#s.

28 lbs still would not support 450 HP at rear wheels >

Ability of Your Injectors IF 28 Lb/min

FWHP 448 Duty Cycle 100% 358 at Duty Cycle of 80%

RWHP 381 305
