I used a cutoff wheel on mine with no problems. Yeah, there were sparks, but you can control where they go by angling the wheel. Most the sparks are in the cabin and not underneath.

there's no flammable liquids exposed in that area unless you have a fuel leak. If that's the case you have more problems than just a pump. There's a couple of good articles with measurements etc. that have been posted over on www.thirdgen.org if you want to do a search.

Are you kidding me? No way having the trap door is SOOO much better. Especially if you gotta swap your pump out anytime down the road it will be that much faster the next time around because you will already have an access panel cut.

It's way simple to do I don't know why people make such a fuss about it. **** almost all new cars come with an access panel for the fuel pump. I used a big 4" grinding wheel when I cut mine because it was taking way too long using small little dremel cutoff wheels. Just gotta be careful not to let the disc go too deep. I didn't have any problems though.

As ive stated in the past on this topic, we modify everything on our cars to make them better. Its better to be able to get your pump out in 5 minutes. Why not do it? I could understand if it was a totally stock car that was rare. But for modified cars that might need diagnosing every once in a great while its a good idea.

If you do do the trap door method, Make shure you know where the general location of your fuel pump is before you cut! You fuel pump might be in a different location than that LT1 Racetronix link.

That Flammable Liquid that is enclosed in a Tank and sealed off...
If you cut it without cutting the Lines then you will be alright..I had about 3/4" clearance..
