Default Gas tank cleaning ?

Dropped the tank on my 81 Trans Am. Lots of crap and looks like rust in there. Any advice on cleaning it out? Trying to not but a new $200 tank and $65 sending unit. Spray it out w water?

Nappa is telling me to coat it with red coat any one heard of it?

Well i would say use some brake or carb cleaner and a bristle brush. Do you have it completely taken apart?

The tank is off but not split in two. I used a long chain and simple green and sloshed it all around and the chain broke some crap loose. Cleaned the tank out let it dry and then put this stuff called red coat in that nappa ordered for me. Will put the tank on tomorrow and see what happens.

You can also have them dipped at a radiator shop, clean as new afterwards.
