Default Fuel pump & 8AN line question.

I recently upgraded to 8AN fuel line from the tank to the motor. I am running a 2 yr old walbro 255 pump and the racetronix harness. Also a Areomotive A1000 regulator and fuel filter. The car has been down for two years prior to this upgrade. The problem im having is that when the pump first kicks on it will never get to 40 psi. Then if i leave the key on i notice the fuel pressure drops off pretty quickly. Now i know this is a sign for a bad pump but could the pump be having a hard time keeping pressure in the bigger line? Then when i drive the car around my fuel pressure is at 40 psi. Then when i get into it it seems to drop to around 35 psi. I havent been able to watch it long enough to see if it keeps dropping past the 35 psi. This problem is new to me and this is the first car i have ran 8AN braided line on. Could i be looking at a bad pump or do i need to upgrade to a bigger badder pump?

Im running a Magnafuel 4302 with 8an from pump to rails and no pressure problem @ 58psi. If anything i would think that a smaller pump may take a little longer getting up to pressure... but if it wont go past 40 then i would think the pump is going out.

I personally think that it is goin out. So im looking at different options as far as different pumps. I was thinking about sumping the tank and running an inline pump so i wouldnt have to pull the tank anymore if i run into this problem on down the road. Thanks for the part # z28mccrory.

Aeromotive regulators are known to sometimes bleed down quickly.
Where is the regulator located?
What type of fuel pressure gauge are you using?
Do you find your car bogging or hesitating when you give it gas?
What are your O2 trims like?
What is your injector duty cycle under WOT?
Did you cut a hole in your fuel bucket when you installed your generic Walbro pump?

mY REGULATOR IS MOUNTED JUST BEHIND MY intake elbow. Im running a single plane with a 100 degree elbow. I have a line coming off each rail into the regulatoer. It is showing that it is bleeding down fast. Im using a autometer nexus fuel pressure gauge. Yes my car is bogging and hesitating pretty badly around 4000-5000 rpms. I havent taken it any higher since there is a problem. The other questions i will answer when we get it back on the computer. Also no i didnt cut a hole in the bucket.
