Fuel Tank Capacity??

I just bought a 2000 Z28 and the info I have says the fuel tank capacity is 16.9 gallons, but I just filled up today with 260 miles on this tank and it only took 14.4 gallons?

The "check gauges" light had been on for about 20 miles and the needle was on "E"..

Any feedback is appreciated.

There is always about 1.5-2 gallons in reserve once the light comes on. i think to fill it completely it is closer to 16 gallons total.

Also remember the tank gets small towards the bottom so it will look like it uses gas faster as the needle gets lower, so if it is on E, it is really on E.

Yea, mine is the same, the book says one thing, but I get the check guages light at around 12.5 gallons spent. Also if I am on a incline or decline for any period of time, it will set the light off.
