Need help with 99+ walbro install...
Is there a trick to removing the stock pump? For the life of me I can't pull it out. :-/
Also.. when re-installing the new walbro pump.. are you guys cutting vent holes in the bottom of the assembly at all or anything? I figure if I cut a hole in there, I might lose fuel on hard launches.

Here is a thread with a single setup in a '99+ tank.

Hope that helps some
). If you go slow and don't rush (screw up), its a pretty easy job.
Hammer tap the silver ring that holds on teh fuel pump assembly to the tank off..
Gently remove fuel pump assembly and be careful not to bend fuel level sender arm..
Remove fuel level sending unit from assembly
Push in 2 side clips to remove casing from bottom of assembly..
Fuel pump is now exposed. fuel pump goes UPward out of the rubber sock.
Cut away old plastic tube..
Insert walbro and put on fuel hose, tighten, etc. etc...
splice wires..
careful put back casing on..
put on fuel level sending thingy..
gently reistanll assembly
I did not cut up my assembly.. for the reason being when I launch, I don't want my gas slushing away from my filter sock... I think an intact casing will alow some buffer room for rough launches and such.

I'm going to cut the bottom out now.. perhaps that will cure it.I didn't solder the connections.. I did use small tube splice.. worked like a charm, no explosion.

Fuel pressure is solid for straight line....
with a 1/4 tank of gas though, on turns fuel PSI dips.. is that normal? You guys get this too? I assume we all do with walbro's due to the fuel sloshing to one side of the tank.
The stock pump didn't have this problem because it would keep itself submerged in fuel.. a nice little resevior.
And if you think about it.. with the bottom cut out a little bit, and you're low on fuel.. when you take a turn and all the fuel sloshes to one side.. what is the pump picking up? Nothing.
So you guys have these problems as well? I assume you do but would like verification.
A solution I see could be runnign a tube from the FPR down near the pump pickup inside of the casing.. might help keep the pump from drying itself up.
What do you guys think?
I put the pump at the stock pumps level... which as i thought over the night.. IS WRONG.. THe stock pump is at the bottom end of the tank-in-a-tank... the stock pump has a pickup that pulls fuel from the very bottom of the tank...
If you set your walbro at the stock pumps height, you still have perhaps 3/4 of an inch left to the bottom of the tank.
Tonight I will drop the tank again, cut a hole in the bottom of the assembly and slide the fuel filter through that so the sock is on the bottom end of the housing, not inside. This should put it at the lowest point possible.
