Default Stock Injector Issues

I don't know if this has already been posted, but.... I have a 99 TA that has a failed injector, the car has only 47,xxx miles. I bought it with about 46,200 miles. I have no idea of how the car was treated or how long it has been sitting. Is this common or uncommon for them to go out, especially with the mileage? What would cause them to go bad?

"Dead end" fuel rails are prone to accumulate
sediment in the front-most injectors (rust from
inside the fuel line, from the looks of it).
If your #1 and #2 are the first to go, this is
the way to bet. The fuel filter can't help you
with this because any fuel that goes forward of
the regulator, never sees the tank or filter
again. Seen / fixed this on a Ford and on a
Porsche, driver's front injector dribbles like
a geezer and the rest are happy little racehorses.
On the Ford this was well under 50K miles. I think
that at the major service interval (30K) an
injector flow balance test is in order.

This kind of imbalance can bring on knock retard
and significant power loss through gross mixture
error (lean) in an isolated cylinder.

This would also explain my problem. Number 1 and 2 plugs show a lean condition and the other plugs show a rich condition. The LTFT are +5 to +8 indicating the PCM is adding additional fuel.

Ok, well, it's not the injectors, it just turns out that the number 2 cylinder is just dead. So what now? I don't think it's a spun bearing, wouldn't the oil temp fluctuate?

If you spun a bearing your oil pressure would show to be lower or move around a lot.Did you do a compression/leak down test yet.That will tell you alot also.
