When do the injectors need to be upgraded?

When do the injectors need to be upgraded? Im running every bolt on, C2 cam, and the only other thing that I plan to do to it as far as adding power, is heads. When do the injectors need to be upgraded? Thanks

Re: When do the injectors need to be upgraded? When your putting out about 450+rwhp. I'll be doing around 445 in my A4 and i'm going to put in 36# injectors for an NXL system on top of the this soon. When you go past 450, 30# injectors should be good for a while.

With a 80% duty cycle, supports just under 350 HP at flywheel load.
I would not suggest using a 100% duty cycle which still would only be 415 flywheel HP.

Im currently pushing 417rwhp (cam only, stock heads, bottom end, and cubes) but am able to push 420+ if I was to use a cutout, short belt, filter mod, etc., but I plan to run it the way it was dynoed. (regular belt, cats, through a full exhuast.) I plan to do heads in the future and I know for sure that it will put me around 450rwhp if not more. Should I be running the stock injectors with the power that Im pushing now? I think the power that Im putting to the wheels is close to 500 motor hp. When should it be a concern for me to go with bigger injectors? Thanks

I use the 42 lb version that GM uses on C5R but they are not cheap,
like $70 per injector

Re: When do the injectors need to be upgraded? The SV0 #30s I had ran pretty rich with stock tuning. I think any 36lb injector or better will require an adjustment to your injector constant.

How did you come up with that answer? I just want to know because I have no clue. What are lb. are the stock ones? How do you determine when they need to be upgraded? With the 38 lb. youre suggesting, does it require tuning? If so, its not a problem because Ive got lifetime at MTI. How come youre running the 42 lb.? I saw the link that you included for those cheaper injectors and I noticed in the address, the name Delphi. Isnt that the brand of a lot of parts on a GM? If so, I know theyre cheaper, but arent they the same ones that you are running only maybe a differnt lb./size? As I asked above, when do you need to upgrade...when you upgrade to bigger injectors, doesnt that mean that more gas is being shot out? All of these questions may sound dumb because I dont have a lot of knowledge in this section. Will upgrading the injectors affect the gas mileage a lot? Am I in danger with my stock injectors with my setup and power? If so, why and what could happen? Thanks buddy for all your help, I really appreciate it.
Re: When do the injectors need to be upgraded? Your stock injectors are 26lbs, same as mine, I am getting a pair of 28's for free then just tune them to match. As for when do you need them, you have to look at the duty cycle, anything over I believe 80+% is not recommended, then its time to go a little bigger... not sure what to monitor, I believe it is injector pulse width, and then you do some math to come up with duty cycle. If you go to big for yoru power you may run into a shitty bottom end because the spray pattern wil look more like a shower head on low, where it starts dripping and puddling rather than spraying. If you max out yoru injectors, sound slike you could be close, if not there already, then as you reach top end, the injectors are already maxxed out so you run lean. run lean and **** gets really hot real quick, and then detonation occurs.....meltdown time!

Is there any way that you could break it down for me and explain how it all works? Also, as I said before, Im running every bolt on that there is for an LS1, cam/valvetrain, and soon I will be doing a 5.3L stage 1.5/2 heads. From what Ive got now, till what I will have in the future, will I need to upgrade? If not, will I need to do so when I get heads? If so, what do I need to be running now or when I do get the heads? Thanks
Re: When do the injectors need to be upgraded? How do you translate the pulse width (from Autotap) into duty cycle %? My car is pretty close to stock, but the pulse width gets up to 19 ms. at WOT, and I thought the max was 20 (I must have read that here somewhere).
