The charcoal canister should sit right on top of the gas tank (its a rectangular plastic box).

Now, the line in the back, has one of those quick disconnects to it if I remember correctly. This line, could you put a PCV valve on it or some type of one way valve on so that when the tank does need to allievate pressure it can, rather then just putting a cap on the line? I run a 118 race fual, and would like to prevent it from all evaporating out the line if possible.

I don't have any exhause near the tank anymore so there's no heat from that getting to the tank, if that will help the situation.

So in that case, I can unhook the line that goes up to teh tank, and leave it unhooked, just put a little filter on there so noting gets up in to the tank, so this way it's still vented, and just remove the whole line that goes up to the front, and cap off the intake.

I'm not worried about codes, car will never go thru emmissions again so that really doesn't matter at this point.

Thats what I did... Except I was using the original EVAP line as a return. But I left it vented right there right before the hardline on the frame rail. No fuel vapor smell here...

Looks good. I am going to put a little breather filter on the hose anyway just to be safe (more so nothing gets into the tank that way)

My concern was if the 14 dollar a gallon race fuel was gonna evaporate out the line.. I guess as long as I don't detach it and have it stink like fuel, there's nothing coming out.

One more POS out from under the hood this weekend

Bringing this one back up...

I'm working on this roller Z/28 I bought. The car no longer had a fuel system, so I've gone and bought stock stuff to put back in the car.

If anyone has time, could you check out my following plan of attack and offer any advice or corrections... Thanks.

I am not going to a charcoal canister with the stock tank. I plan to vent the tank with a hose off the black hard fitting off of the black item that has a T on it. I am planning to reinstall the factory black plastic line from the center of the gas pump setup to the side T fitting.

I therefore will have a feed line (driver's side), black plastic hard line, that goes into the metal feed line. I need to run a black plastic line from the return to the return inlet on the fuel pump setup.

I bought two metal lines that run to the front of the car. The one without the fuel filter and T return, that other one is the evap?

White evap I've been told to run nothing just leave it. I wonder if I should cap it.

Please no suggestions to run the charcoal canister or braided line, I know.

The black plastic feed line (which I don't think I have) is longer than the return line right? And does the feed line on a stock setup come down, and then make almost a 90 and start going forward a bit?

Damn I just need that one line and redo the axle bearings and I'll have the whole back of the car done... grrr.

I'd like to know the answers to your questions also John.

I do know the white fitting is just a vent that has a hose on it that drops down near the rear axle and is open ended.

PSJ- Give me a call when ya get a chance or shoot me an e-mail. I have my tank down and all the lines identified. It may help you move forward if you haven't finished your project yet.

I also have a question for you if you still have your tank out and available.

I left my canister on, and just put a cheap filter on the end to stop anything from getting in there. I have zero fuel smell (and I run Torco 118Nos fuel, so if it had any smell.... I'd smell it LOL)

does deleting the evap cause a code? Ive had a small evap leak code for a while now. and after doing a smoke test its leaking at the top of the tank. im looking for the easy fix on this. its killing my mileage too.

It will cause a code, but it shouldn't be doing anything with your fuel mileage.

Ok might have to delete it then. I guess the leak i have right now is causing a vaccum leak? Which could cause bad mileage?

Could... but I don't know.

Easy way to find out: Pull the connection off the intake, and put a rubber cap in place of it. If that makes the mpg go up, then bingo problem solved, and at that point, get the codes turned to ready no report, and rip the whole damn thing off the car and call it a day.

Just more tree hugger crap, as long as you leave the charcoal canister in place you won't get any smell.
