Default Daily Driving on pure alcohol

I hope this is the right section for this

I have access to a TON of biomass where i live, and could essentially make enough cellulosic ethanol to run my car well into the near future. The transition over to ethanol isn't a problem, but i remember hearing about various 'issues' that come up when you daily drive a pure ethanol car on the street.

I searched around a bit, and couldn't find exacly what i was looking for, but are there other considerations i should make before doing this? Would it be better to just make my own E85?

Any input appreciated.

well alcohol in general is hygroscopic, which means it attracts and absorbs water, namely from the air. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe E85 has additives to prevent this from occuring. There might be other issues to pure alcohol, but I'm not sure.

There's a good thread in drag racing section on running alcohol in LS1. Other threads too, just do a search.

There is a process to get most of the H2O out. I think it involves use of a still for homemade procedure. It is a federal offense to use a home made still in the US. Interesting.

you just have to fill out the right paperwork. It probably varies by state, but in Colorado at least, IIRC, you just have to let the state know how much you're making, and what you're making it for.

Before this thread goes to crap and gets clogged with speculation and misinformation go check this out...http://running_on_alcohol.tripod.com/index.html Or just google "homemade e85" or "homemade ethanol". You'll find enough info to keep you busy for days...
