Default Hard starting after FPR

Non LS1 question

I've built a set of custom fuel logs for my 98 Buick Regal 3800 S/C's, like every 3800 the car used to start after 2 seconds of cranking, probably less.

After the rails were complete the car now starts hard, 3-5 seconds of cranking before it pops off. I'm using an Aeromotive A1000 regulator, braided An-6 lines for my supply and return, walbro 255 pump (basically new, installed last year) and Lucas 42.5 injectors. Is this something normal with the regulator? Its only when the car has sat for a few hours that it does this, after it warms up it starts fine after that. Any ideas? Annoying to say the least, i miss the fast starts and hate the wear the cranking has on it. I'm thinking it is something with the regulator, i've noticed the aftermarket reguators don't hold pressure like factory units do, after the pumps shuts off the pressure drops some, which aeromotive says is normal. Thanks

Aftermarket fuel pressure regs do not hold pressure so each time you go to start the pump has to prime the system.

My understanding is unlike factory regulators aftermarket regulators do not hold pressure at key off, once the pump shuts off the pressure drops 10-15 psi. From what aeromotive told me is the federal government mandates the pressure hold at keyoff for a not to exceed pressure of 5psi drop over a 10min period, aftermarket guys aren't mandated, so they dont' do this.

Will a inline checkvalve prevent this from happening, i hate the cranking at startup, aeromotive and earl's make an inline fuel pressure check valve if it would help.
