Bad Gas???

Default Bad Gas???

I took the car out last week for the first time in months. Over the winter I did a lot of mods. The only thing I did to the engine was new rod bolts and plugs. Also went to dumped bullets instead of the ORY and cutout.

The idle is wandering a little and the car wants to die when I come to a stop. The first time I got on it a little, it broke up on the high end. Sounds and smells rich so I pull one of my brand new TR6's and... Very rich looking.

The SES light is on but I haven't scanned it, no scanner, and the roads are wet.

It has gas from last October. Could this be my problem? I put some stabil in but it was after the gas was a few months old. Anyone had a similar problem with bad gas? I don't want to drive the car to get it scanned if I'm washing the cylinders...

Car ran great last year and it is in open loop.

I might sound stupid but I know when I store mine for the winter I have kinda the same issue. During the first spring start up, the car cant hold idle worth **** and when I give it gas its fine but then wants to die out at a stop. Either way, let the car warm up for a while, turn it off and then start it back up, maybe a few times even. I know with my car, the pcm just needs to re-learn the tune so to speak and then from there on out the car was/is fine. Usually after the 3rd start up the cars good to go, provided the engine gets warmed up to normal operating temps and you take it out for an EASY cruise. This happens every year with mine and i also use the stabilizer in the gas. Good luck though.

Scanned it, p0104 - low voltage at the MAF. Pulled the plug off the MAF and it runs the same...

Clean the maf with maf cleaner and change the fuel filter, and check rail pressure.

Found out the MAF had no power. Can't find the ENG SENS fuse, ( swap that I didn't do), so I jumped the MAF from the underhood fuse block. No more codes and the idle is better. Can't drive until tomorrow though...
