Default Hard time starting car

My 98 z28 is having a hard time starting... I'll crank it for about 5 seconds, then it'll start, or crank then turn the key back, then will start right up... Just replaced fuel filter. Car is a daily drivers so it hasnt sat.

Car is stock other then Lid, catback, msd wires, and slp maf...

any ideas on what i can start with?

Thanks

sounds like not enough voltage to let the PCM work.

battery or bad/dirty wiring ??
maybe starter going out, sucking all the juice ??

when you release the key when cranking, & it fires, it's because you took a heavy load off of the battery, causing the voltage to go up to where the PCM needs to be, letting the car start, only because engine was spinning over when you released the key.

But, if the car has been running... say within an hour it'll fire right up with just a hit of the key.

The battery is new, and is charging fine.

Thanks for any help

You need a new fuel pump the check valve is gone in the pump letting all the fuel out of the lines after it has sat for awhile.
