Default Pissed at Walbro 340 Install probelms...need help

NOTE- all of tis is being done on a 1998 LS1 Formula

I am in the middle of the trap door/walbro 340 fuel pump replacment and I am having a killer time. Eveything is part and I'm trying to install the new walbro pump into the top and bottom plastic lids that secure the pump to the rest of the assebly. I have already enlarged the hole at the bottom end to allow the lasrge walbro pump to fit but I have ran into 2 things

-The new pump is smaller in diameter than the original pump and when the top and bottom lids are put on the new pump seems to be loose between them.....I thought if I went ahead and put it back together that the brackets on the unit would hold it in place....however when trying to do this I found that the new assemblied piece was about 1/2 and inch too short as the oringinal and would not stay in the assemblyy correctly.

-Also I noticed that I only got one rubbler fuel line in the shape on an S. and it has to be hose clamped to the top of the pump...this make the fitment of the top lid nearly impossible.

Is there a special write up on how to do this somewhere specifically for a 98 year model. I knew there was going to be some modification for this setup but this is crazy

thanks guys
Dustin

Just use a straight section of fuel hose from the top of the pump to the fitting on the bottom of the plate thingy. The previous owner of my car half assed the pump install into the plastic lids. On the bottom plastic lid I had to really hog out the plastic with a dremel. It helps if you cut away PART of those two little holes that hold the rubber pieces in on the bottom plastic piece. Put the pump into the plastic lids, push the bottom of the pump down enough to get the new strainer on and then put the little rubber pieces into their holes...it'll take a little work to get them in around the pump but once in they'll snug up against the pump and help hold it in place.

Or...you could do it the easy way and just ditch the plastic pieces and attach the pump to the metal bracket with a big worm gear clamp. I would've done it that way but I didn't have any big worm gear clamps left and the parts stores were closed. Check out this thread https://ls1tech.com/forums/fueling-injection/869554-98-walbro-pump-install.html

Sorry for the not-so-clear explanation...it'd be easier to explain with pictures.
