ABS problem after gear install
ABS problem after gear install I posted about this earlier, im getting some mixed up feed back. One person mentioned a reluctor ring. Heres the deal, i have a NON TRACTION control 6 speed car that had a 2.73 gear in it. Yes i know, it was swapped in there while the car was on a dealership lot befor i bought it. Someone took the stock 3.42 rear end. Ok, so i bought the thunder gear package and a SLP torzen and had it installed by one of the best gear guys here in town. Anyways, now when i get on the brakes, the ABS inop comes on, the brakes suck, and i get the low traction light. Id like to know what the problem is before i drop the car off there again. I need the car to get to work, so i cant afford leaving it with them. Any help figuring this out so i can have the part or know what to tell them before leaving it with them. I cant afford any down time. Thanks

Re: ABS problem after gear install You have to buy a "3 series" reluctor ring for the new torsen posi, since your 2.73 carrier was a "2series". The old reluctor ring doesnt line up with the sensor correctly. You can unplug the ABS fuse in the fuse box to get the brakes right until you get it fixed. I believe the part is about $30 from the dealer. Just order it for a 99 6spd car and you'll get the right one. Good luck.
Re: ABS problem after gear install Hey thanks, that is right on, i just priced it at 30.00 from a friend who is familiar with the part. It appears SLP is supposed to send the reluctor ring with it.
