I was going using a 3.73 gear on 26" tires and seem to be running right thought the traps at 6-6200RPMS. I'll be getting my Fab. 9" here soon and thats coming with 4.11 gears but I will be running a 28" tall tire which will put me right around a realistic 3.90 gear, so I should be right on with the traps and RPM i hope, not quite the answer you were looking for, but maybe it'll give you a starting point.

Midwest Chassis Fab 9 running a 3.90 gear and will see Nitrous at the track, more than likely a 28 tall tire as well...I think this should be about perfect for going through in fourth gear without any issues of the Rev Limiter. (Mine will be set @6800)

sorry to hijack, but i am wondering the same thing. I make 620 with juice, for now. I have not made a good n20 run this year, but with 4.10s i think i will be on the limiter 6800. I have 3.73s now. I know 4.10s would be perfect for motor only, but on spray i think i will have to get into 5th. How much would a 28" tire help? and will a 28 fit with no modifications?

For example, a 28x10.5x15 ET drag has a wider tread and section width then a 28x11.5x15 ET Street and the ET Street is really a 27.6" tire and has a treat width of 8.9" or something like that, where the ET Drag is really a 28.1" tire and has a tread width of 10.0" as well as a wider section width. So besides the usual bumpstop cutting mod, the ET Drag would need some pounding of the front inner fender well where as the ET Street would not, so when choosing a 28" tall tire make sure you look at the tread and section widths to help a little on the mods that might need done to get the tire to fit.

With 4.10's on a 17" tire you should be tearing into the rev limiter right around the traps.
I have a similar setup and 3.90's gave me just the room I needed to get to the end in 4th without running into the redline. I really wanted to go with 4.30's in the rear, however it was precisely this issue that helped steer me to the 3.90's.

Why not try and maximize your ET is you're going to be racing the car? Get some good sticky tires, light wheels and a set of 3.73 gears w/ a 26" tall tire (Possibly a 26x10 ET Drag, or a 26x11.5 ET Street). ![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)
