Hell I ran 4.56 in my 9" this year and still got 24mpg on the highway. Would have kept them because they were such an absolute riot on the street, but couldn't finish the 1/4 mile with them. Running 4.30's now, love them!!!

i had 4.10's but i snapped my rear in half, broke 5 or more teeth in the rear. Also this happened the first day i had the car when the car had 22" rims on it (I know, 22" rims on a camaro SS) so i blew the rear and got 3.73. looking back i don't know what i would do but on the drive home from LA ( i live in SF) i raced a friend in his mustang bullitt and ate him off the jump by about 5 cars, now i only get 2.5-3. My rear end makes a hell of a lot of noise when i am off the gas and the gear is slowing the motor. honestly its annoying and i don't even know if its set up correctly. the problem is the shop for the rear is so damn far away (1 hour) i just don't want to drive it all that way so i live with it but it only happens above 60 and i like to cruise in sixth at like 60-65 so i guess its my fault cause i'm only tacking about 1500-1600 rpms. So i could see how there would be noise

^^^Noise is due to improper set-up. Bite the bullet and take the hour drive to the shop that set them up. If you keep waiting, they won't fix it for you. You should have no noise, or very minimal, if set up correctly.

Ordered my Strange 12 bolt with 4.11's...just waiting to get it from them. I've heard good things about going with 4.11's with the M6's. Some people claim that the M6's should have come with 4.11's stock. lol +1 for 4.10's.

I would agree. Granted I have a Datsun not an Fbody but its awesome in town when just getting from A to B super easy to drive. Not to mention fun as all hell when getting on the loud peddle
Cruising on the highway is good and the 6th to 4th downshift at 60mph is a riot for passing.

4.10 is the best mode for an F body......... hade them in one for over 100,000 miles.

and they are fine for street racing. been stomping *** the whole time with them. you just have to learnt o drive the car and not FLOOR IT AND HOLD IT. but thats with anything that is makeing good power.

I just installed 4.10's in my LT1 and it's a dd. I also had noise and vibration coming from the rear end at highway speeds. I didn't really feel the vibration at 60mph, but I heard the low growl. My problem was the drive shaft needed to be balanced. It's only $40, and I think it's well worth it. The gears have been fun so far.

Alrite...you got an SS M6 right? Well...wouldn't that mean you already have 3.42's in the rear? You really won't notice the difference that much with 3.73's. You will definitely like the 4.11's over the stock 3.42's and even 3.73's. Plus, you can actually use 6th gear now. lol

I have 3.70s in my car, but wish I would have gone with the 3.50s. I do 99% highway driving, and at 80MPH I'm doing 2k RPMs.

You can always split the difference and go with a 3.90 Rear-gear ratio.

Depends on your goals and your definition of 'street' gears. If you mean not shifting as much and 'street manners', stay with the 3.42's for now.

If by 'street' you mean rapid acceleration, I have no problem with 4.10's, especially if your engine power levels are stock or slightly above.

The more engine HP/TQ, traction control issues may make that 4.10 gear a little more challenging.

For me, its always about finding what gear to be in at any given mph. The higher numerical gears are unarguable superior for acceleration, just makes it more challenging to find a gear to match any given mph, without running a rpm that is annoyingly high.

Maybe I am getting to 'old school' here, but if I ever do another engine/gear combo again, I would probably choose more CI's for my HP/TQ and a lower numerical gear.

For your specific question, jumping to 4.10's (or 3.90's) would give you enough of a difference to justify the cost, and put a grin on your face.

Good luck, its almost as hard a decision as choosing the 'perfect' cam.

Anybody else got some ideas, or did we give the poster enough information to decide?

Let us know what you finally decided.
