8.5" 10bolt in a 76 Nova
have a rearend ?
my 76 Nova has an 8.5" 10bolt with 2.73gears. Will this rearend hold up to a mild 383/th350 combo? (of couse with new gears)
any info appreciated

lol..i just touched on this topic, the easiest way to tell if you have the 8.5 10 bolt "the big 10" is when you look at the housing there are two tabs at the bottom of the housing..youll know them when you see them..they stick out like dog ears..if you have that, then you have the "big 10 bolt", and yes this rear will hold up to more than the 383 can throw at it, but its always a good idea to uprgrade the axles..but this rear has gone 9's

Yes it will. As long as it is the 8.5. We are running one in a 68 camaro with a 565. It has a spool and moser axles with a TA rear cover. we are putting 1400 HP. 905 off the line 225 .6 out 300 3.4 out. it has a 29x10 stiff wall on a 10 inch wheel. with a 4800 converter with a transbreak. SS car runs 9.50 on motor in a quarter. 5.34 in an eighth. rear has been in the car 5 years. car will run 7.90s on the juice. Watch the pinks all out in montgomery in march. It is the car that wins the 10 grand and the 8000 tool box
