4.10s just installed!!! I'm trying to be easy on them since they are brand new! I've only put about 50 miles on them so far.
But anyway, they are the perfect compliment for my setup. I have a fairly aggressive clutch (spec III carbon) and GM's Hotcam, which lopes pretty hard at very low speed. With the stock 3.42s, creeping along in stop and go traffic was quite an effort. With the 4.10's it is much easier (RPMs being higher at very low speeds).
Also, I can actually use 6th gear "legally!". I can cruise at 65mph in 6th now and still have plenty of passing power. I'm at about 2150rpms at 80mph. It is perfect!
Well, the real fun will be when I can let it rip once the "break-in" period is over.
Wish my wimpy stock 10-bolt luck!

How much traction did you have with the 3.42 gears? Did the tires spin just rolling on the throttle in first? Also what tires are you runnin? Sorry about all the questions, just curious.

Re: 4.10s just installed!!! My tires would break loose pretty easily in first and second with stock gears. I've learned to feather the gas to prevent it...
I am running Dunlop S5000s since I attempted to use my car in the snow a few times! never again... Next time around, I'm going with "summer only" tires... The Dunlops have some pretty big gaps in the tread pattern, although they feel just as good as the stock Goodyears.

Don't get me wrong. I love my 4.10's, but I think my slipping clutch is what saves them at the track

Re: 4.10s just installed!!! I have 4.10s in my M6 with a Centerforce clutch. When i race i have to go from a roll. Ill spin through 3rd easy if I go from a stop. Im on Eagle F1s. I've been thinking of putting 3.73s in my car. Seems like it would make it easier to get traction. Also, nitrous makes more torque than HP. Torque=power to turn taller gears. Peace

Re: 4.10s just installed!!! Good luck with the gears. I got about 6 months and 35 passes at the track before mine broke with only ~320rwhp. Never launched over 3k and only on BFG KDWS's(all season street tires). Last run got a 1.92 60ft when I broke them though(started making a knocking noise). Made it home and to the shop(~60mi) and when I tried to drive it into the shop. Now I am breaking in my new 12-bolt.
