Default is this souns legit?

im thinking about ordering my a ford 9" from this company, here is the email they sent me..

$895 - 9" Ford Housing/Axle Package (82-92 F-Body)
- Includes Torque-Arm Bracket
- Flush Mount Housing Ends (Accepts 93-02 Brakes)
- Moser Axles, Axle Bearings, Wheel Studs, & Retainers
$975 - Center Section (Assembled)
- New 31 Spline Detroit Locker
- New Motive Performance Gears (4.11 Ratio)
- New Timken USA Bearings
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
$1870 - TOTAL

This does not include shipping. Shipping would run $130 via UPS Ground, making your grand total $2000. The housing/axle package is going to be going up on 01/09/09. The new price will be $945 as compared to $895. As long as we get the housing/axle package ordered by the 9th it will remain at the old price ($895).

my car is an 84 trans am with an ls1/t56. i recently broke my locker and decided to get a better rear end altogether rather than keep buying replacement parts for my 7.5 10 bolt.

he says its good to 500hp.

let me know what you guys think

I thought 9" Detroit Lockers were only 35 or 40 spline?

Do you have a picture of this?
I have no idea why the HP rating is so low, maybe it has something to do with the TA mount.
That rear in a leaf spring car would pull the front wheels up I'm sure.

That's a good deal. Personally, I would go with a good posi rather than the locker but I don't know your needs.

I would of got some c-clip eliminators... they might say its only good to 500hp because of the 31 spline axles? When I got my Moser 9" back in late 02, early 03, it was $3200 shipped, but I opted for the 35 spline, 4.11's, c-clip eliminators, locker, AND THIS SETUP CAME IN PIECES. NOTHING WAS ASSEMBLED!!!! They told me the locker would be fine for my setup (running 10's). I started having issues, called them, complained because they told me their product would hold the hp I was making. Long story short, had to buy a full spool, and sell the posi separately. It worked, but wouldn't hold mid 10 second passes (only 1 wheel spun while doing a burnout). I've made close to 700 rwhp on nitrous with mine, and never had a issue. It's not a DD, but it's seen many many passes over the past 6 years when I first got it.

You paid extra for c clip eliminators for a 9 inch?
I don't beleive a 9" with c clips exists. From the factory they are a non c clip type rear.

the 9" for Fords don't come with the c-clip eliminators. The fords are made for the axles to bolt into the housing. From Moser though, I opted for c-clip eliminators because they have clips that hold the axle in at the carrier. So, if you have a GM vehicle, you can opt for this. Moser offers it. My father also has c-clip eliminators in his 8.5 10 bolt he got from Moser. It's not extra though from Moser. Hope that helps.

9 inch fords do not have c clips!

Tell me how you get the center section out it they have c clips.
You torch a hole in the back of it?

Any rear that has a center section that comes out from the front does not, and never did have c clips.

Show me a 9" ford with c clip axles.

9000th, read the first sentence. Not the first line, THE FIRST SENTENCE.

I, on the other hand, have a 9" Moser, and I have c-clip eliminators. Since I don't know what brand 9" the poster ordered, I told him he should of got c-clip eliminators, hoping it's not a Ford 9".

Thanks, pass on through now.
