Default Strange "S" Case 9" Center Section

So who here is pushing the Strange "S" case? How much horsepower is this thing rated at? I can't seem to find much info on it other than it's a budget case for street/strip duty. Just curious what kind of 60' times these things can handle with an M6. My car will see mostly street duty with a few 1/4 mile outings a year.

Thanks,
Mike

not sure about the "pushing it" thing with the f-bodys at this point... most people with enough power to worry about it have gone with the aluminum case setup.

although i can tell you this... i have a local customer that had a 1965 BelAir that was in full street trim. not sure of the weight, but it had to be everybit of 4000 or more. the car had a 565 big block, Dart aluminum heads, solid roller, etc, was also a Muncie 4 sp and a Ram clutch. we built a custom 9 inch, Strange axles and driveshaft, and used the S case. this car did see a good bit of dragstrip time with slicks and the rearend had no problems at all.

i have sold plenty of these cases to my 9 inch customers and have yet to see a single problem with them. Strange rates them to 850 hp.

Just get the Strange Pro-nodular case, its only like $100 more then the standard S case and its the strongest that Strange makes... Even Strange recommended it to me for a heavy M6 car thats street driven and raced a lot over the aluminum center. I have about 1300 miles on it(whole Strange center section) now and its just as quiet as it was when I first installed it.

Thanks for the reply's. At this point I'll probably use the "S" case. I'm somewhere around 500rwhp and this car will only see limited track duty on DR's or maybe some ET streets. Just wanted some verification on the strength and reliablity. I've heard that this case does need some slight clearancing of the webbing for the 4th gen TA bracket.

I believe the aluminum Ultra Case is the strongest case Strange makes.

I'm running one of these. I have about 550RWHP on nitrous and it's worked fine for several years. Should be good choice for you.

FYI....

Notice it says "when gear set life is not an issue" and "greater tensile strength then an OEM ford case"..... Neither of those sound good to me.

"Virtually indestructable" sounds better....LOL

That being said, I am sure you will be fine with the standard S case...
