Default 2.73 to 3.73 NEW TIMES???

My car ran a 7.1x @ 98 last time at the track. This was with stock 2.73 gears.

I am in the process of putting 3.73s in now and was wondering what kind of times people of seen with this swap...I'm hoping for a 7.9x at least maybe even 7.8x Does this sound pretty close??

I will also be going to a 28 inch tire instead of the stock size so that will offset a little of the gear ratio i know

Your old time was a 7.1x, but you're hoping for a 7.9x now? Was there a typo somewhere?

As for gains, I think it depends more on the rest of your setup. With the right combo 2.73s can go 10s/11s in the 1/4. But the wrong combo with any set of gears won't get you to your goals. It might help to list the rest of your mods. I don't have any experience with 2.73s to 3.73s, but I will be switching from 3.42s to 2.73s this season, and I'll post my results in here

sorry....I meant 6.9x and 6.8. Here's the setup

fully forged 408 Iron block
ETP 225 heads
244/248 610/610 113 cam
QTP longtubes with tsp true dual exhaust
4k stall
90/90 intake/TB

Also my 60ft was only 1.78 with the 7.1x run I really think this thing should be in the low 1.6x range on motor

You should 60' in the 1.4x-1.5x range with the right gears at worst. WHat kind of converter are you running? 3.73 with a 28'' tire should work well for your setup and mph. MPH tells the whole story for horsepower. I run a stock 3.42 10 bolt with a 2800 vig spraying a 100 dry out of the hole with another 100 wet on a 3k-6k window switch. My best = 1.52 wheel hopping 60', 1/8 = 6.78 @ 103, 1/4 = 10.62 @ 128. I was going through the 1/4 @ 6.2k with the 2nd stage off in 3rd or D. Shifting into OD @ WOT will shorten the life of any 4L60E.

I think it's a PTC Converter

The converter was the first things I bought about 4 years ago when i started doing things to the car
