Default Drive Shaft Length for a 9-inch/m6 combo?

I'm having 9-inch installed in my 1996 WS6 and was wondering about drive shaft length. It has an m6 in it now. A buddy of mine is selling a DS that is 3inch diameter steel and 1 inch shorter than stock for a VERY good price...will this work for me???

Thanks

Andy

My car is dropped 2 1/2"s and the 9" install actualy had my driveshaft too SHORT,it shifted really badly and made me regret the swap.
One of my sponsors hooked me up with a Adjustable Tq arm and it solved the problem by pulling the DS back into the tranny where it should be.
It took me a few tries to get the right angle but once that was done it is a much better car now than before.
And is now practically indestructible!!!

Not M6 but stock length worked for me.

My buddy needed a slightly shorter one for his 98Z A4.
