Gear Opinion?

I know this subject has been revisited time and time again, but i need some opinions. My car currently has trapped as high as 103 in the 1/8th mile. I still have the factory 2.73 gears with a 26inch tall tire. I plan on doing a cam soon along with the spray, so what would be a good gear choice for this size tire, 3.73 or 3.42. I just want to know what gear will give me room to grow as far as my time and mph. Or should I just go with the 3.73s and chose a taller tire. Just let me know what you guys think.

I'd go with 3.42's and stick with the 26's since you are trapping pretty high in the 1/8. Are you doing 1/8 or 1/4 only?

i am mostly 1/8th, but want the car set up for the quarter.

Well... alot depends on your rpms going through the traps.

yes, i just wanted to know what other people were running gear wise with a car that was caple of mid to high 10s and trapping a 103 mph in the 1/8th. I just need some opinions. If 3.73s would be good, or the 3.42s with my current 26inch tall tire setup.

I would do 3.73s and just play with the tire size if thats what you desire. There are mostly 1/8th mile tracks around here and most of the 4th gens there run 3.73s for both 1/4 mile and 1/8 mile. So I would say do the 3.73s and then if you decide later you would rather run 1/4 mile switch to 28 or even 30 inch tire, if more gear is needed, nvere heard any complaints from guys around here with 4L60Es and 3.73s on either track.
