Hey guys I am up in the air about this so I thought I would put it to a vote.

My rear (stock) needs to be fixed because she is making some noise, my guess is it needs gears.

My mechanic says he can build it up really nice for about $1,100. He says I shouldn't have any problem with my mods. (Built 10 bolt)

I also have buddy who is willing to swap his virgin 10 bolt (35k miles) for mine. Install for $400.

Last but not least I found a local swapper who can get my a really nice brand new 9 inch installed for $2,500. With tru track and 4.11s, the whole 9 yards.

Now my question is what would you do. My car is a street driven car only. No track, no drags, no nitros. May I also mention I still need wheels because a few of mine are bent as some of you might remember from my earlier thread. Which means I will be running bent wheels for awhile if I go 9 inch.

There is nothing he can do to the 10 bolt to make it strong enough to handle any real sort of power. Get a new mechanic, your current one is full of ****.

Sell your 10 bolt. Nuff said!

Buy a 9" housing/axle package deal. Pick out your third member, install and you are done.

You don't need a 9in for what your going to do with that car, and don't waste $1100 to "beef up" the 10 bolt. Get the new 10 bolt and go from there. You may have better luck with the next one.

It is not fun when you break the rear. Do it right and not have to worry about it.

9 inch it is. Think I can get by with stock 9 inch internals? Besides axles and gears and such.

Yeah please don't dump $1100 into a 10 bolt, that's
Good luck w/ whatever you decide to upgrade to, you won't regret it, especially if it's a 9" (hint hint).

Thanks for the help, 9inch going in this week. I'm boltons/cam now. Hopefully stock internals for the 9 bolt will be ok.
Whats my 10 bolt worth?

Seems like a waste of money/power to put a 9" in a car that won't be drag racing at the track, especially if getting that 9" means you have to drive on bent wheels

If it were me, I would swap for the other 10 bolt (but do the labor yourself, $400 just to drop a rear and put it in another car is way too much IMO), replace the wheels, then later on if that 10 bolt starts to act up, switch over to a 12 bolt

Well If I get the 9 inch then I will defiantly go to the track. Also I was able to get one for $2,100. $2,300 installed.
