swapping ring and pinion, or swap the whole rearend?
which would be easier, using a lift. ive heard alot of people complaining about ring and pinion swaps to be a pain because theyre hard to get aligned. a guy i know just grenaded the ring and pinion in his older chevy truck and just swapped out the whole rear end and it didnt seem like much of a hassle. yet...everything seems harder on our cars than any other vehicles. so opinion, which do you think would be easiest?

IMO swapping the rear is the way to go, if you can find the one you want.
I hear too many stories about gears not being set up right and getting ruined, or aftermarket gears whining.
I want to upgrade my 2.73's, so I'm keeping my eye out for a 4-channel 3.23 or preferably a 3.42 rear to swap in.
I have no clue how to set up gears, but I'm confident that I can swap the rear w/out too much trouble.

Swapping out the entire rear is easy. Let the still hydraulically connected brake calipers just hang, paint some marks on both rear springs and their perches on the housing assembly(so you can put them back in at proper position rotation on the replacement housing assembly),support the rearend to be removed, unbolt driveshaft, torque arm at rearend,LCAs,panhard, lower end of shocks, and loosen/remove any clips/fasteners for brake lines and electrical. Somebody will bring up something I forgot.
Don't forget to keep the rearend coming out,for when you break the 'new' one you still have the original to re-install.Our small 10 bolts DO break.
