Use additive with Torsen?
#3
Owners manual says yes, so I did... About 5k miles ago.
I have no problems, or noises, or leaks.
I used the Castrol Hypoy C gear oil (GM specified weight) and GM limited slip additive (about 4 or 5 ounces). The 'Master' mechanics at the dealer couldn't tell me what fluid came in my car stock. Dumbass (service manager) said that they usually just drain old stuff out to see what color it is, then they know what to put back in... This is why I did it my self! Total cost for job was less than $30 and took less than 1/2 day. Could have done it faster, but I was cleaning stuff while I was under there... This is a VERY easy job... Good Luck!

Torsen has a "FAQ" section on their website. They say it is not needed. However, they go on to say that some GM cars made a "rusty screw" noise and the additive was added to cure it. So, it is likley recommended due to that problem (noise) that won't hurt the dif, it is just irritating.
