? about 10 bolt's
? about 10 bolt's so a couple months ago i was driving and heard a wierd noise from the rear end(sounded like i had a flat tire) but it was still driving fine. and about a mile down the road i heard a loud "Pop" and the car would not move anymore, so i called a tow truck and towed the car home where it sat for a month or so before i got around to it...... and finally pulled the diff cover(Which had about 8 holes going straight up along the widest part of the cover) and found out that one of the bolts on the back of the "ring" gear had come out. and since i shut it off as soon as i heard the noise and didn't drive it anymore it didn't damage the gears at all...... the bolt that broke just rolled around in side the diff and punched the holes in the diff cover.... anyways my question is am i ok to use the same stock gears after i get the rest of the broken bolt out and replaced? or would i be able to put a "true" POSI unit in the car to make it stronger? any help you guys could give would help out tons..... i'll post some pics of the carnage tomorrow since i'm not near my car right now.

Really the only thing that will make the 10 bolt stronger is replacing it..hah
But to answer your question, on my old truck (2002 F150), one of the ring bolts came loose and bounced all around the inside and smashed up the cover really good. I drove it around for another day like that, fluid all over the place..hah All I did was put a new bolt in and drove the truck another 4 years with no problems.
So, my advice is just replace the bolt, put some loctite on it, and ride.
