school me on rear ends
just got my new car 2 days ago, rear end went out today, car has 61k miles on it. what started out as a minor whinning noise turned into a very loud whinning noise, took it to the shop and they said i need a new rear end. im in the market looking for rear ends but what do i look for 10 bolt wise? i see stuff such as 3 channel, 4 channel, 7.5", 8.5" what does all this mean?

I believe 3 channel is just an ABS rear, 4 channel is ABS and TCS. 7.5 is the fbody rear and light truck rear. The 8.5 rear is in fullsize trucks and SUVs. If you really want to get a new stronger rear you look into 12 bolts, 9 inch and dana s60 rears. This is most likely the way you want to go if your definetly gonna be modding the car. But if you dont have much money now, someone can definetly rebuild that rearend and put new bearings and seals in it for now.
