i have a 02 SS and when i bought it the rear end makes a noise, it's not gear wind, i cant explain what it sounds like to be honest with you but best way is it sounds like a space ship... im amost positive it's the clutches inside the third chunck, b/c i looked under there and it looked like it had a pinion seal leak, and im guessin they let the oil level get too low and ran it still and maybe burned up the clutches... it's stll pulls posi thouhg... i want to replace it but i dont want to buy anything that is crap... i want it to be the same as mine if not BETTER! what do yall recomend, i would rather just TRY and build a strong 10 bolt n not go with a 9" right now
