I have one of those seals (GM# 26026792) that I ordered from GM and didn't use (because I bought a new yoke and it came with seals too). $15 shipped if anyone wants it.

so when doing the seal all thats needed to be done is dropping the driveshaft, pulling the nut and seal then putting the new seal in, tightening the nut down reattaching the ds and filling up the diff?

Mark the nut and yoke in relation to the pinion shaft threads and re-install to the same position. You dont want to change the pinion bearing preload, as stated earlier in the thread though it would take a lot to further crush the crush sleeve.

Here is a picture of the pinion nut and shaft. You want to knock a mark on both before you take them off as shown in GREEN. After you replace the seal you have to make sure your line you made matched back up perfectly or about a HAIR tighter. If it’s too tight, you could screw up all sorts of things inside your differential.

Having 3.73 installed in my 01 formula and found out that the pinion seal in my Richmond Gear master kit is the wrong size. I am now another day without my car. I wish I found this thread earlier.

I'm assuming we're counting the revolutions of the nut as it comes off and then putting it back the same amount of turns. /threadrevive
