Replaced axle bearings, now the howl is back

According to a calculator, if I'm doing it right, if I was running the T56 and 3.73 gears I'd be running ~1700-1800RPM at 70mph. That would work just fine, considering I run 2000-2100 at 70 right now, and about 1700 at 55. Plus, by the time I'd put a T56 on the V6 it wouldn't be a stock V6 anymore ![Grin](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_grin.gif)
I'd be aiming for more fun on the street, with some runs to the track I'm sure.
Thanks again for your helpful input

sounds like pinion bearings if it's changing with letting on and off the gas.
Don't tear the pinion out if you don't know what you're doing...tightening the pinion nut right is crucial

If it is the pinion bearings, how serious is that? Could it just make noise but be fine to run for a while that way until I get around to redoing the rear when I actually start modding the car? We're talking like at least a year.
Just wonder why it has to start making noise now after doing the axle bearings. Makes me worried I did something wrong and somehow damaged it.

Hey, sorry for bring this back a bit, but the axle bearing is the inner most bearing by the diff correct? Wheel bearings are behind the rotor, and the pinion bearing is in the diff.
I am having a noise like yours, but it does it from 30ish-80 and on....
No grinding noise, just a beefy tire like noise. I have tried different tires.
Any suggestions?
Also, how much were your axle bearings and did you get them from a local parts store?
Thanks!
