will 410 gears in a stock 10 bolt hold up?
Hey everybody i have a 95 lt1 6 speed. Currently all i have done to it is short stick shifter, flowmaster 40 catback and 125 wet shot. I ran a 14.8 with no nitrous last friday and was pretty dissapointed. I was looking at getting a higher gear cause i heard that would help me out but i wanted to get some imput fro you all. I have 343s now and would like to goto 410s what do you think?

there are tons of ppl doing it, and it seems they all eventually break and upgrade to a 12 bolt or 9 inch.
and OUCH on that 1/4 time!! did you miss a gear? more than once? lol.

I have had mine in for almost 3 years now. No loud whine noise, and installed a TA rear cover with the arp bolt upgrade. I have drag radials but also dont do any high rpm clutch drops or take it to the track. I keep it on the street and race stoplight to stoplight when the time i right it did make it alot more fun to daily drive.

If you are going to buy the gears & have them installed, I would not waste the $. If you can find one done already for a great price, like I did, go for it.
Mine is still going strong. But I am ready to buy a 12 bolt if it fails.

I have to admit, with all the crap people talk about these little 7.5/7.6 10 bolts. Mine held up to alot!! I put down atleast 480-525hp on the bottle, and I let her rip at about 5500rpms.. Now yes, I broke it, but only after a good hard year of long burnouts, hard launches, and some parking lot fun.. I think if the track prep wouldnt of been so damn good right then, and I had tried 4500rpm launches instead it would of lasted alittle longer..
None the less, the Diff held up fine. My ring and pinion (Motive 4.10) Didnt hurt anything. What gave up was my driver side axle shaft. (see pic).
IMO any car with enough power is bound to break something, and if you aint breakin anything you aint going fast enough!!!
Hope it helps man!!

Two 4.10 gear sets and 50+ passes with only a cover where I am afraid to whack the stock clutch OK. Add a cam and proper RAM clutch and the very first pass with the new setup and I dump at 4K tonight with DR's and a good burnout and BAM, pinion or axle or something is missing teeth like a hockey player so I have to be pushed out of the lane and I end the night with a winch ride back onto the trailer.
10 bolt on the street with street tires and roll racing or bog and roll, OK.
Hit the tires like you mean it at the track with an upgraded T/A and watch out, tomorrow I am ordering a 9" like I have in my Cobra, I guess I don't know how to "finesse" a launch which is kinda an oxymoron?
Save your money and do it right, just like your father told you or stick to playing on the street.
