How streetable are 4.10s in an Auto?
As the title says, looking to see how streetable 4.10s are in an auto. My car is a DD. I got a set of 4.10s for free along with a Girdle, so Im seeing who here has experience with these on the street. Please no posts about how I should get 3.73s, I will make up my mind later about that. Any input such as gas mileage, highway RPM and overall feel will be appreciated.

Not many people run the 4.10s in the autos. I talked a guy into 4.10s about 6 months ago and he loves them. Wouldn't trade them for anything. He came from 2.73s and the car wouldnt get out of its own damn way. He told me he turns close to 3k at 70 mph with a stock sized tire. Me with 3.73 turn about 2500, and me with 3.23 turn about 2050. So it seems to be about 500rpm up for each jump in gear.

street driven and beat a4 with 4.10s. LOVE them! so much better for bottom end. turns 2250rpm a 60mph. fuel mileage kinda sucks but who cares. your worried about that stay with the stock set. i would guess mine to be mid to high teens.
Thing pulls like a train though!
you may have a problem with 1 to 2 shift setting on the limiter cause the rpm and speed of the car dont really go together to well. i didnt. just something i heard some people have trouble with. So idk really
only down fall is tops about 145 to 150 mph range. but to each there own.
I miss 165+

my friend has a red t/a, a4 with 4.10's. but only cause they were in there when he got the car. he cruises about 65mph at about 2400rpm plus. i dont think his mileage is as good as it would be with a higher gear. but try it out, everyone has limits as to what they'll consider streetable

4.11 Gears are about the limit if you want to cruze the interstates. I run much bigger gears but my car is a 6 speeder. I say stuff them in and ENJOY THE RIDE. They are AWSUM. NOTE they do run the RPM'S UP on the interstate but once you are locked up and in OD its REAL NICE. Peace Tom

My 3.73's annoy me enough on the highway but I'm planning on swapping to some 4.10's myself in the near future so I can cross the traps at a higher rpm. If I drove the car more I would stick with the 3.73's but I would imagine a stalled auto with 4.10's to be one hell of a rush.

I DD 4.10's in my Trans Am for years and loved every second of it. With the stall I had, a good 26'' tire and the 4.10's, that car left the line like you got rear ended by a bullet train

4.10s are a great gear for the A4... I had the same experience with regard to cruising RPM... 2600 on a 27" tire (20" wheel) @70...
A lot of guys claimed on this and other forums that the 4.10s were too low for the street; but I think they tend to cruise the interstate and lean on the high end; and for my application they were great.
My car is pretty much a week-end warrior... we love the 1/8th mile drags... and rarely sees the interstate.
I fish the local waters for light to light, 0-60, quick in and out actions... and overtly stay away from highspeed running, except on the track.
I've just bolted a set of 5.13s to an A4 and it is RIDICULOUS!
Don't be afraid of the gear man... you're gonna LOVE IT!

What exactly are you trying to achieve? I have 3.70's but don't daily. I had factory 3.23's and to be honest could have ran just as fast with them. These are kind of annoying on the highway so if I ever pull the center out again I may go to a 3.30 set. MPG sucks now too... I would never do it and would advise you to stay away unless you are trying to wring every bit out.
