I drove a spool in my 9" for sbout 10 years. I would not hesitate to do it again. Yes radials chirp a bit around corners, but imho if you need a spool you are beyond the limits of a radial for traction. lol

I have a spool in mine, and it's not bad. You just have to get used to it. My car doesn't like full lock turns because of the spool, but it doesn't really matter.

This biggest difference I saw when compaired to my old posi was that the car did the same thing each time. Each time I nailed it on the street I had a good idea of what to expect. If on dry dry road the *** end kicked out to the left a bit, then it did that each time. Sounds like a little thing but IMO it made it easier for me to drive. Maybe a new and tight posi would have done the same thing, but as time goes on, things change.

I drive my car where-ever with a spool. The only time it annoys me is in cold weather, meaning below freezing or so. At that temp, the tires are hard, and slow, tight turns in a parking lot **** me off. The tire doesn't want to give in these conditions. Warmer weather, and you still know you have a spool back there in tight situations, but it's not bad. Once your actually going, you don't even notice.

daily drive spool (in truck), you adapt and it acts the same thing every time because it doesn't have a choice anyway.

In an A4 car launched at 1800rpm, is a mini spool stronger than a posi?

thats debateable, all a minispool does is replace the sun and planetary gears in an open diff, so there are still parts to break. a full spool is a much safer bet but they don't make one for a 7.5"/7.625". but for your application it would probably last. the difference is that a full spool replaces the entire carrier the gears bolt to it and its installed like that, for mini spool see above.

Once the weather is nice I will be testing out my spool. I dont daily drive my car, only put around 600 miles on it a year but I do go out for cruise nights and to car shows so we'll see how it acts.
