thinking of beefing up the old 10 bolt
motive 3.73 gears
auburn pro series diff
mosler axles 28 spline
TA rear end cover
and a rebuild kit...
will this be ok with as far as handling a head and cam bolt on, stall car that would on wear DRs at the track...
thanks

Some guys have gone 10's on the stock rear.
Its mostly about how well the rear is put together, your combination of gearing, tires, clutch, and launch, and a lot of luck.
Nothing wrong with beefing up the 10 bolt. It can take a lot of abuse when properly built, but don't put all your eggs in one basket. If she still blows up on a hard launch, don't be heartbroken.

Yeah man. I wouldnt even bother.
Ive got a Auburn pro diff, T/A girdle, 4.10s and all new bearings and seals all less than a year old. Guess what. The pinion seal is leaking AGAIN and I am pretty sure because of the lack of fluid now I just ruined a perfectly good gear set. Sorry for the rant.

I make 572RWHP with a 125 shot and 441 N/A with my 10 bolt and a 6-speed and have ONLY been on street tires and twisted my driver-side axle at the splines within 5,000 miles...even without much traction I'm in the process of putting in the Moser 9" with 4.11s and a spool DON'T PUT $$$ INTO A 10 BOLT IF YOU MAKE MORE THAN STOCK POWER AND WANT IT TO LASSSSSST

let me ask a dumb question. Can these aftermarket rearends, like the 12 bolt and 9 inch rearends be setup to use the factory tcs? Cause i don't want to waste money on the factory rearend, if it will not hold up! looking to do add a supercharger in future. looking at around 400 hp + at the flywheel and m6 tranny, 3.73 in rearend. 95 percent street and 5 percent strip. no slicks

Wow some of you guys are harsh......
The answer is yes and no.
Yes , you CAN build a better 10bolt.
The problem you'll run into though from what I've read from people who've gone this route is that your pinion will eventually walk its way forward, leaving you with gear oil seepage around the front of the diff.
I haven't beefed mine up, but it has been rebuilt once already and I was running nothing more than drag radials, lid and a 3200 stall at the time.
Hardly extreme, but after the first year of owning the car, I noticed seepage in the front of the diff, followed by massive whailing due to a bad bearing/race which were both pitted up pretty good.
(I was told the car likely has some moisture in the rear diff, causing some corrosion and with the 3000+km trip to Vancouver and back, the damage was made worse... even though I changed the diff fluid a week before the trip and once in penticton at my dad's house only 1200kms later)
Anyways.. you can brace the rear cover and axle tubes, buy aftermarket axles, ect.. but you'll likely still have to deal with that pinion issue.
If you have nothing but time and moderate fab skillz, it can be done.
But it'll still need yearly maint... if not a few times a year.

they will hold to an auto car pretty good IF its setup good. i wish i had never spent the first dime trying this for a 6 speed car tho. i have had very good luck with them in stalled auto cars tho. i would not waist money on the so called beefed up parts tho. gears, set up right, with alot of side bearing preload, master install kit, and a girdle. call it a day, save the rest cause if its not right. you will be doing it all over again anyway. lol
