Question Best cheap way rebuild 10 bolts

Heres my situation;

I'm selling the car but needs to check the rear end cause of this weird problem; the car will feel like it falls on neutral when WOT and turning..straight line WOT is alright.

Locals here charge like crazy and it will cost me a lot just to check the rear end. So I want to know what I need to rebuild a 10 bolts completly with nice/cheap parts. I know its better to get a 9'', but it would be dumb to dump over 3500$ in a car that I would sell right after..

So, a master rebuild kit 99$(jawsgear), truetrac posi 392$/eaton 450$/detroit 593$/Auburn 473$, oil 80-100$ and what else?? shafts 180$ for 28 splines 32-1/8 with traction.. 592-793$+178 shafts+159$ gears=from 593-1137$

Am I missing something before I get ripped off by the local shops here?
How do I know if its a series 2 carrier?
Should I order the parts in advance?

thanks

what transmission you have?
if your talking about the 98SS in your sig,stick=3.42 3 series,auto=3.23 3 series unless the SS has 2.73(not typical for an SS auto.
would be more economical to pick up/buy a ready to use/slap in complete rearend.

I have 3.42 M6. I did that for the last rear end and it lasted 1 1/2 year, which is good. The problem where I live, theres not many used parts available. And no rear end left. The shipping is way too high to pay for a stock used rear end.

I talked to a mechanic and he said it could be the 'side gears' in the carrier that are worn. Anyway, he has some used parts from S10 and maybe he could rebuild the original parts with it. I'm sure the gear and pinion are still good.

I'm looking for 13-1400$ with a brand new carrier unit, with oil and rebuild kit with bearings n stuff...and if he use the used side gear, I'm looking at this for under a grand, which is nice!!...but it has to hold together after!

buy a used one and stick it in there we have bought several from 200-300. I personally got fed up and built a 8.8 to fit my car will probably build a few more for my friends and brother. 10 bolts are cheap.

if you feeel like making the drive down to VA you can come buy mine haha. i'm tryin to get rid of it since i put a 9" in and i think just getting a new 10 bolt would be the cheapest and best way.
