Default who here uses a TA stud kit?

i'm not starting a debate on the worth of a girdle. god knows it's been done before. but i'd like to know who uses the bearing cap stud kit with their TA girdle and what do you think about it. thanks.

I had it on my old car. Thought it worked ok. They rears fail with them and without them, but it can't hurt was my thinking about it. That's one thing about my truck I like. I don't think the 11.5 inch rear end is going to break on me too much.

did you use assembly lube when you installed the studs, or can they go in dry? anyone else?

I've had my stud kit installed for about 25K miles and it works great. Cheap insurance. Anything to help the ol' 10 bolt.

I put them in dry, just make sure you torque them correctly. I set them at 70 ft/lb. Also, make sure you don't over due the new hex support bolts on the cover, set them at 5ft/lb. I also used royal purple 75/90W. no probs.

Yup, I put them in dry also. Don't overtighten the bearing cap support bolts like SSable said. I used the real thick royal purple stuff, and it seemed to help my rear stay a bit more quiet.

I have had one in mine since about 4,000 miles. The car has seen some pretty good power shifts on good tires with 360 rwhp for most of its life without an issue. The car should be around 395 rwhp now with the cam and is holding up good so far. Everything helps at this point. For the low cost of it, why not?

i have the stud kit on my 12-bolt. or i should say cover. i cut the studs down and didn't use them at all. no problems. personally i think the cover/stud kit is like trying to hold the rearend together with duct tape. it's not going to do much if you're on sticky tires.

The stud kit referred to above is separate/extra cost from the standard bracing (two prongs sticking out inside) included in the TA or Mac covers right?
I was hoping that the standard cover bracing would be enough by itself to help the 10 bolt out in my bolt on A4/3.23/drag radial car.

I got the T/A cover, stud kit AND Ratech Solid Pinion Spacer , all help the 10-bolt live. Also keeping 3:42 gears, anything over that is tiny inside the carrier ( IMHO ). I'm at 400HP on Nittos in a 6-speed , holding up at 10K miles on the new motor fine. Avoid wheel hop in the 10-bolt - likes to kill the rear.

i got the stud kit free with the TA cover from tbyrne. i thought they were refering to the load bolts when they said stud kit. just wanted to know if it was worth my time, as i plan on keeping my 10-bolt for some time. i do most of my racing on the street , and from a roll. plus, i've got regular BFGs and 4.10's
