2.73s to 3.23s?
I was wondering how big of a difference they would make at the track. I hear some say it won't be noticable but that is 18% taller gearing. That would nearly be like going from 3.42s + 18% = 4.11s just in terms of percentage difference of course. I will not do 3.42s or 3.73s due to gas milage so if nobody feels the change is worth it, I will stay with the stocker.
Until somebody starts fabricating $1800 8.8's again, I can't afford anything else.

3.23 are the way to go if you want driveability + better acceleration. You wont have your gears TOO torquey so you will still hook, and you won't sacrafice those MPGs compared to if you had 3.73. Though you will lose MPG with 3.23's, it won't be very noticeable.
You will probly pick up about .3 tenths or so
If anything, a stall should be picked up instead of gearing. if not already done.

You are on crack.
I would be surprised if you picked up anything more than one tenth. I would stick with what you have. You can get a used 9" for cheap (less than what you were saying with the 8.8).
Other than that, 3.73s aren't that bad at all. Unless you do a lot of highway driving (60+ mph) for extended amounts of time, you won't notice the difference between those and 3.23s.
If you are looking for a cheap alternative, go with 3.42s.

window sticker mpg
my 98Z w3.23 17/25
98-02 w2.73 18/26
My 98Z with a window sticker mpg of 25 gave me 24.5,at freeway legal speeds on cruise control, for 6 trips to Florida from Cleveland,Ohio.
When I went to 4.56,3 identical trips to Florida gave me 21.5 mpg.
based on that,
3.23=24.5
3.73=23.5?
4.10=22.5?
4.56=21.5
in pure stock form,I was low 13.90s'
LS1s' with 2.73 in pure stock form were also low 13.90s'

Thanks everybody, I guess if I find a low milage junkyard 3.23 rear then I will get it but not spend $ on my rear.
Lemons12, hopefully I could find a 12 bolt or 9in with 3.25's for $1800.That would be great.
