Default Are 4.11s too much gear for me?

Last time at the track i ran a 12.1 @ 125 w/ 2.2 60 footer on a 100 shot, street tires, cammed ls1. 3.42s seemed to work just fine because i finished right at the end of that gear.

I blew that engine up and have a 404 now. Will probably be doing heads cam and maybe spraying some more.

I think i will be trapping that or more. Will 4.11s be too much?
I will probably be doing an 8.8 swap so 4.11s will be easy to find out of an explorer.

Well, you may just need to focus on suspension pieces. What do you run for tires and suspension?

The traction issue needs to be addressed first. 4.11's will only make traction more difficult to keep unless you have some sticky tires.

Traction was in the tires. I just upgraded them to nittos.
Btw, ive gotten 2.0s on my old tires, that just happened to be my best run.
I have tubular lcas, phb, adj torque arm, sfcs, and an airbag.
I said that I switched to nittos, so they will probably help it hook better. I just got 275 nittos.
1le swaybars, slp level 2 suspension.

I would make some runs with the new tires.

See where that gets you with MPH and how much gear you have left.

Im at about 6500rpms going 122ish topping out in 4th gear with 4.10's

Hell with spray and some 28" tires maybe 4.30's will be good

Your gonna want/need more tire with that setup I'm sure. I'd stick with the steeper gearing like your planning and step up to a nice bias ply tire for the strip because you have a stick car. If your having to go into 5th before the traps then a 28" tire will get your back down to 4th.
