I have added a new option to the rears on my website. You can save $140.00 if you want to set up the gears yourself. This is for those who have experience in setting up gearsets or know someone who is. Bob

Hey Bob,

I have a Moser 9" True Trac 3.89 gears w/31 spline axles, BMR drag pac torque arm, and BMR lower control arms. I bought it from you about 2 years ago and has about 6000 miles on it. My car is a 2000 SS M6, bolt-ons with 355 rwhp. I have had no problems so far but I have not been to the track with it. I do have MT E.T. street radials on and have done some hard launches on the street without any issues. Am I looking for trouble if I take it to the track? I have not seen to many good thing on here about the True Trac but when I bought it, the True Trac was the hottest thing going. Also if I did upgrade would a Wavetrac with 35 spline axles fit in my housing? And if so at what cost?

Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave, normally when people have problems with the Truetrac's, it is long before the mileage you have on yours. Since you have also done hard street launches with ET Street Radials, I'd say your chances are pretty good that you won't have problems at the dragstrip.
You probably have a 3.062 O.D. carrier bearing size case, the Wavetrac requires the larger 3.250 O.D. carrier bearing case. A spool would be your best bet if you do take out the Truetrac, although I don't think that will happen. Thanks. Bob

Bob,
I looked at my invoice on my Moser rear and it says it is a Trac Loc w/ 3.89 Pro gears and 31 spline axles. Is a Trac Loc different from a Tru Trac? I purchased it in Sept. '07 and had 50,000 miles on my car, I now have 64,000 miles. No track time but quite a bit of street abuse with many violant 2nd gear hits. It feels very solid and I am confident that it will hold up. What is the difference between a True Trac and Trac Loc?

Thanks again
Dave

I have preferred the Trac Loc over the True Trac ever since True Trac was sold. Hopefully the problems that we were having with the True Trac have been resolved, but several years ago many customers were having problems with them. I have sold countless Moser rears with the Trac Loc and have not heard of any problems with them breaking. Here is a link to a lot of information that I have on both the Trac Loc and the True Trac. https://www.brutespeed.com/rear_end_information.htm Thanks! Bob

Cool, there is a lot of good info in this issue. There is a nice article on RPM Transmissions 2007 Z06 LS7 stock block running in the 9's in the 1/4, with a ProCharger D-1SC. Bob

Alright sounds perfect! Will the driveshaft arrive about the same time as the rear end?

I did a 4L80 swap on my car so I am unsure what would be needed or useful with this package. What would I need to get this to work. Also I have a UMI adj torq arm would that work with this rear? And what difference does it make with the splines?
can you go over why you would need these options? I am trying to learn what I would need and/or want when it comes to the rearend of the car as I will be saving up to purchase one
and with these what size would I need and I am just lost when you mentioned the vacuum line
