PST Driveshaft question
I went searching throught a few pages of post and haven't found anything on driveshafts. I shattered mine at the track last night and am thinking of putting a 3.5" PST aluminum driveshaft in its place. I am only pushing 410RWHP so I am thinking it should work.
Is this a good buy for 400 bucks or is there another driveshaft I can live with that is cheaper.
I am going to be putting it on a 10 bolt so I am guessing I will be getting a 9" soon since first to go was clutch, then tranny, now driveshaft, next rearend.

I recommend the PST 3.5 inch alum driveshaft. It handled all the abuse we put my Camaro through, including a televised wheelstand competition where the car went up on the parachute mount, and all four tires were off the ground. I am currently selling these PST driveshafts at $400.00 shipped. Bob

No, under a 1,000 but l leave on alot of nitrous. At the time the car was full weight with a really good 4l60e, it did 60 really well. I broke the stock driveshaft, replaced everything, trans included, installed the pst and lasted 3 launches. I then had a real driveshaft made, same suspension, everything else the same and 3 years later almost and never had another problem. So I dont think its the car. PST was even shocked on how it broke, they wouldnt give me a refund but they did send me another driveshaft, I didnt even open the box, I sold it.

we haven't had any issues whatsoever with the PST shafts, either. keep in mind, PST nor any other manufacturer does not manufacture the tubing so there is always a chance any shaft can fail if there is a bad spot, though not likely.
I have personally seen many of the exhaust setups on f-bodys have contact with the driveshaft when the rearend is hanging(car on jackstands, hoist, etc). any sort of contact(especially while rotating) with any component can compromise the integrity of any driveshaft, and its up to the installer to make sure the shaft is installed correctly and has proper clearances. this particular guy with a PST shaft failure could have had this happen and never even known about it. then once high enough torque is put on it and you have a failure. all i'm saying is that even the most expensive, highest quality parts can fail if not properly installed or maintained.
