Default 12 bolt or 9 inch?

So, what one is better? 12 bolt or 9 inch rear end?

I am planning to build my car, just researching the pros and cons of each one.

well usally go like if you have a auto then go 12 bolt, Manual trans 9 inch. 9 inch does take some power to turn but i wouldnt worry about it because of the strength. Get a 9 inch and be done. If you do go 12 bolt i would recommend strange engineering.

Okay, well it would be behind a 6 speed, so 9 inch?

I would say yes to that. What are your goals of the car?

Well, It's still in the rough developmental stages, but a built lq4 Iron block, T-56 it will be N/A at first but will be turbo'ed eventually.

basically Mr. Lous 's build.

Yeah if you are planning to put some power down then 9 inch is the way to go. Myself i spent the money and bought a Midwest chassis Fab 9 inch Sponsor >>> His name is Eric and is a great guy to deal with. But a search is your friend here and there is alot of info here, And plenty of sponsors here to get you the parts you need. There is also a guy here name BoB with Brute speed and sell Moser 9 inch for a great price. Just have to pick your options, myself i have mine narrowed 3 inch both sides it fit the wheels i wanted to run and also lightens it up a bit, Installing strage drag brakes. Endless amount of options.

id def go a 9" over a 12 bolt..
i never really understood why the comparison between then 12 bolt and 9" comes up?
i would think the S60 and 9" would be more "comparable" in terms of strength, no?

We do offer alternatives to our Fabricated 9 inch and will work to match any ones prices. Remember with our fabricated 9 inch it is built to your specs(tow loops, fill cap, Watt's link, Powder coating, and many other features such as center section choices, not just one brand), it does not force you to buy what someone else is just willing to offer you. Our true fabricated rearend housing features components such as a drain plug, 4 hole relocator style lca brackets, stock style anti-sway bar mounts, brake line clips, hose mounts and e-brake cable brackets(98-02) all as standard equipment at no extra charge.

When you compare the price of any 9" on the market and then compare the price of our fabricated 9 inch that comes with a torque arm and cross member of your choice you realize you are coming out ahead.
