what is the 'slp take off zexel' for?
is this for converting posi from clutch to posi from gears?
what is the install kit for?
is it impossible to install without it?
if not, what is it for?

Help!!!!!!
1st time to log on to LS1 tech. can't seem to absorb all the info. so much.
I have a 02 trans am convertiable that has a few free mod's and a slp cold air kit. It run's 13:47 in the 1/4 with that suckie 2.73 gear. I believe I have the 10 bolt 7.5 rear end and would like to put a better gear in. I seem to be favoring the 3.73 over the 3.42 only because I have and have had both the 3.42 & 3.73 in my 01 & 02 Yukon's. The 3.73 seems to give the Yukon a noticable gain in power etc... Trying to cut this short... which gear would serve me better 3.42 or 3.73. I don't care to cruise at 160 but would like to get there faster.

Thanks for any advice... there seems to be so much potential with this car....

3.42 is a great gear compromise, there are many fast cars running them. It is noted a modded A4 will annihilate nitto's and require slicks even possibly with the 3.42's. Adding a steeper gear may cause wheelspin to be aggrevated.

Of course if this is your saturday night special, go for more gear.

Imo. I'd take the stronger (3.42 or even 2.73) and create more torque.

The only reason i went from 2.73 to 3.42 is to eliminate sloppy looseness that might have occurred with a 3500 stall. Plus im sure after 70K miles the old posi was worn out. The SLP take off is the spider style i don't know if the 2.73 is.

the install kits contains the various parts needed to properly swap a used posi in. There are some parts that should not be re-used. An SLP take off is a used product. Mine had slivers of metal (normal) all over it and looked like it was rolled around the shop a few times lol.

but they all look like that from slp.

when your posi wears out you do one legged burnouts.

The correct way to put gears in is replace the carrier. There are other ways, but you make sacrfices.

Doing it the right way isn't terribly expensive, but you won't break gears hopefully or have the dreaded whine, or peg-leg burnouts.
